Waiting on Wednesday (8) and Wishlist Wednesday (8)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

Twisted Fairy Tales
Twisted Fairy Tales by Maura McHugh

I saw this earlier today and I want it sooooo (is that a sufficient number of o's?) much!  It's an illustrated anthology of dark fairy tale retellings.  What's not to love.  This one just came out on Feb. 1.  Oh and to fuel my need, this is one of those hardbacks where the book looks just like the dust jacket. Why does that make it so much more enticing?

My pick this week is:

The Nightmare Affair (The Arkwell Academy, #1)
The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett

This one is about a girl who attends a boarding school for  magical types.  But she isn't your run of the mill vampire, witch or werewolf.  She's a nightmare, that's right an honest to goodness, make you pee the bed NIGHTMARE!  How freaking cool is that?!  The story sounds incredibly cool and holy crap check out that cover!

So what's on your WL this week?  Let me know down below or link me to your post and I'll come check it out!

Waiting on Wednesday (7) Wishlist Wednesday (7)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

Timeless (Timeless, #1)

This book seems to be floating around everywhere lately since the sequel is coming out soon.  The premise seems really cool and it's gotten a lot of great buzz.  Plus,  let's be honest that cover is...wow.

My pick this week is:

Sever (The Chemical Garden, #3)

I just finished Fever and it ended on such a cliffhanger.  I need to know what happens!  I'm liking this trilogy more and more as it goes on so I'm hoping that Sever is the best one yet.  This one comes out on February 12th.

Wishlist Wednesday (6) Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:
Beauty Queens

Okay, let's be honest.  Just the fact that Libba Bray wrote this mixed with its cover makes me want this book, but as it turns out, it's actually supposed to be pretty funny.  A bunch of beauty queens stranded on an island? Yes!

My pick this week is:

Josie Griffin is Not a Vampire

This just looks like one of those books that is going to be a lot of fun.  It is pitched as Twilight meets The Breakfast Club.  That sounds just fine to me.  Josie Griffin Is Not a Vampire  comes out September 13th!

Wishlist Wednesday (5) Waiting on Wednesday (5) Weigh in Wednesday (7)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

The Little Woods

Two words: Boarding School.  I don't know what it is, but boarding schools have always intrigued me.    It also seems to be a ghost story which scores definite bonus points.  This book has so much potential.  I can't wait to get my hands on it.

My pick this week is:

Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1)

The cover alone would have been enough for me to be intrigued by this book, but it just so happens that the plot sounds pretty amazing as well.  I'm hoping this will be creepy and whimsical.  I mean, imaginary friends and an ancient, moldering manor, how could it fail?  This one drops on September 11th.

This weeks topic:

Reading a Book vs. Listening to an Audio Book
(apparently this is actually last weeks. my bad)

This one is actually really easy for me.  Reading will always win out.  I can appreciate a good audio book as long as it is done well, and lord knows I probably wouldn't have called Hermione her-me-on for so long if I would have been able to hear someone pronounce her name correctly, but there is just something about being able to interpret the narration in your own way that makes reading much more personal.

Wishlist Wednesday (4) Waiting on Wednesday (4) Weigh in Wednesday (6)

Still on vacation until Friday so I probably won't be putting up any reviews this week (for some reason it's been freaking impossible to find a quiet place to read around here.  I almost strangled my brother on the car ride up.  But that's beside the point.  He's fine.  I promise.  For now.)  Anyway I still wanted to put up my Wednesday memes so you all knew i wasn't dead.  I'll be back on Friday and hopefully will have a review then and a book haul next weekend!

My pick this week is:
As You WishSisters Red (Fairytale Retellings, #1)Sweetly (Fairytale Retellings, #2)Purity

Basically anything by Jackson Pearce.  I'll be the first to admit I've never read anything by Pearce, but I'm already a giant fan.  This is mostly because of her YouTube channel, which I highly recommend.  She's so well-spoken, funny and delightfully awkward that I can't help but like her.  I definitely Plan on picking these up sometime soon.

My pick this week is:

Fathomless (Fairytale Retellings, #3)
Fathomless by Jackson Pearce

Well I figured I was going with a theme.  Plus this one is a retelling of The Little Mermaid and seriously I will read/buy/watch anything having to do with TLM.  I only wish this one had talking crabs. But we can't have everything I suppose.

This weeks topic:

Fairytale retelling vs. The original fairytale

Without the original fairytale, we wouldn't really have anything to go off of so I would have to go with the original.  Of course, I still love a good retelling as well.

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

Beautiful Days (Bright Young Things, #2)
Beautiful Days by Anna Godbersen

I just finished Bright Young Things and loved it! (I'll have the review up tomorrow or Thursday.) So obviously I can't wait to read the second book in Godbersen's most recent series.  Here's hoping it's just as good!

Something Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly #1)

This one just looks extra creepy.  Throw in an awesome cover and some zombies and I am so there!

This weeks topic:

reading one book at a time vs. reading multiple books at a time

I sort of go back and forth on this.  Mostly I read one at a time, but then I'll go for a couple of months reading two or even three at once.  However, reading multiple books can tend to lead to confusion and fatigue on my part so I always end up going back to one book at a time.

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

This is Not a Test

Six kids trapped in a high school during the zombie apocalypse?  Yes, please!  I can't wait to read this one.  I love survival stories and I love zombies so this couldn't be a better match for me.  This book has also been getting rave reviews and seems to live up to the hype.  I can't wait to find out for myself!

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine where bloggers highlight upcoming releases we are drooling over.

My pick this week is:

Tiger Lily

I love Peter Pan.  The book, the Disney movie and all the live action adaptations, even the play. So of course I was super excited when I first heard about a Peter Pan book told from Tiger Lily's perspective.  I've always been curious about her so this book caught my eye immediately. It comes out on July 3rd, 2012 from Harper Collins.

This weeks topic:

Action/Adventure vs. Romance

Why are all of these so difficult for me?!  I guess if I had to choose one it would be Action/Adventure.  I love romance but sometimes it gets a bit tired and old.  Action and adventure never get boring for me though.  I love books with fight scenes and daring escapes.  The perfect book has both though and humor as well.  See The Princess Bride ;)

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Pen to Paper that lets bloggers gush about books that have been sitting on their WLs for awhile.

My pick this week is:

Belles by Jen Calonita

Okay so, it only came out last month but ever since it was announced I've been coveting this book.  It has a gorgeous cover and the story just sounds adorable!  I'm especially excited that it's going to be a series.  I've heard such great things about this book and it sounds like it would be the perfect summer read.  Hopefully I can get my hands on this one sometime soon.  It is definitely at the top of my to-buy list.

My pick this week is:

Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown

I love mermaids!  I have ever since I saw Disney's The Little Mermaid when I was a little kid.  I haven't ever read a mermaid book, though, so I'm thrilled that there are so many being released this year.  This one looks especially interesting and features a merman as the main character, which is a bit different.  It comes out on June 12th and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

This weeks topic:

POETRY VS. PROSE

This one is so difficult for me, I love them both, but I guess I would have to say poetry.  When it comes down to it, poetry was my first love and I simply couldn't live in a world without it.  Poetry is part of so many things that I love and great poets inspire such a depth of feeling within me that I always end up coming back to poetry when I need some peace or understanding in my life.

Wow! There are a lot of wednesday memes. Please comment and leave me your Wednesday meme links.  I'd love to get your thoughts!
